Eastenders: That soooo wouldn't happen in real life!

I actually vented about this on Twitter just before Christmas when the episode aired in November. In fact, the more I think about it, the more irritated I get. I wish somebody would inform the writers and producers that no black parent (especially those of West Indian origin) would accept getting bitch slapped by their own child. And in a realistic world, a black kid would not even DARE attempt to raise their hands to their parents faces.

During this one episode of Eastenders, Denise Wicks was preparing to wed her killer fiance Lucas, the father of her oldest daughter Chelsea. She was so nervous about the big day that she couldn't stop herself from panicking. Chelsea was irritated by her mother's jittery behaviour that she ended up slapping her mum across the face. What does Denise do? Absolutely nothing! WTF. Laughably, she just stands there in shock. I'm like, wow! If I slapped my mum, I can guarantee you, I would NOT be standing. That is why soap is exactly that. Certain situations to do with ethnic minorities are not accurately portrayed in a realistic light whatsoever. I wonder what was going through their minds when they both read the script?
